LOGGERHEAD FEST OF WINTHROP!

Announcing a save the date for our upcoming event bringing together our brewing friends from @islandparkbrewing and @naiadcountrybrewery for a celebration of Bavarian Beer Culture and the release of their new collaboration beer — Danko Dark Rye Ale.

On Saturday, March 28th from 12-9pm come hangout with the teams at @islandparkbrewing and @naiadcountrybrewery and taste the release of their new collaboration beer made with local malts from @blueoxmalthouse

It’s an ideal beer to kick off spring, mark the end of winter, and is designed for the tradition of “bierstacheln.”

Bierstacheln is the Bavarian “hot poke” tradition where a “Loggerhead” is warmed in a fire and put into strong lagerbier delivering a warm marshmallow-like foamy head on top of your cold beer. The foam caramelizes, enhancing your beer experience along the way.

Join us for the day, we will have a tap takeover featuring @islandparkbrewing @naiadcountrybrewery beers, and some @ayinger_privatbrauerei traditional German lagerbiers. The brewers and cidermakers will be outside by the fire pits poking beers to Bavarian tradition.

To add some cider to the tradition, @absolemcider will be offering a limited time “Cider Flip” where we will be adding maple syrup and molasses to our Fools Errand cider making for a unique caramelized cider experience.

@uglydumplingfoodtruck will be serving food throughout the day, and @dusty___buckets is going to playing some traditional folk and bluegrass in the barn from 5-7pm. Meet the brewers by the fire pits from 2-6pm to get your beer hot poked!

This event would not be coming to Winthrop, Maine without this German tradition being kept alive by @schellsbeer in Minnesota and @notchbrewing in Massachusetts for their yearly Starkbierfest. Spencer, founder and brewer @naiadcountrybrewery reminded us how special bierstacheln can be and is always eager to share the tradition with everyone at our farm. We appreciate their dedication to the tradition and honor them by bringing this event to you. Meet you by the fire pits!
